Ingredients
1 kg apples (Reinette, Golden, Gala)
1 roll shortcrust pastry (store-bought or homemade)
50–75g granulated sugar
20–30g unsalted butter
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F)
Drape shortcrust pastry in a 24-26cm tart mold. Prick bottom with a fork
Peel, core, and slice apples. Toss with lemon juice and cinnamon
Layer apple slices over pricked pastry, overlapping slightly
Sprinkle sugar evenly across the apples
Dot butter pieces over the apple layers
Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden and bubbling
Cool slightly before serving

Use tart apples for better structure
Adjust sugar depending on apple sweetness
Check doneness after 35 minutes by tapping the pastry crust
