Ingredients
500g strawberries, fresh and in season
Pâte sablée base (store-bought or homemade)
4 tablespoons granulated sugar
30g unsalted butter (for filling, optional)
1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
Confectioners’ sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 180°C (Thermostat 6)
Prepare pâte sablée base by following the directions on the package (store-bought) or shaping homemade dough into a tart shell
Wash strawberries thoroughly, hull them, and cut larger berries into halves or quarters
Toss strawberries gently in a bowl with 4 tablespoons sugar and 1 tablespoon lemon juice (if using) and let macerate while preparing the crust
Arrange strawberries in the prepped tart case, pressing lightly
Dot with softened butter if desired
Bake for 20-25 minutes until crust is golden and strawberries are tender
Let cool completely
Dust with confectioners’ sugar before serving
Notes
Use store-bought or homemade pâte sablée; ensure dairy-free for vegan options
Adjust sugar quantity based on strawberry sweetness
Leaving small berries whole preserves their structure
Lemon juice helps maintain bright color and reduces moisture
Serve with crème fraîche, mascarpone, or vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence
Tart can be stored in a refrigerator for up to 2 days
